2024 Feature Artist
Local landscape artist and previous Artfest exhibitor, Kate Holden, was named our 2024 Feature Artist.
Kate works in oils on canvas, capturing the personality and unique character of our native birds and environment. Her work layers colour and brushstrokes to create energy and movement; and to enhance light and depth of field.
After completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (COFA) Kate shared studio space in Scotland and the Netherlands, exhibiting alongside local artists and gaining insight from their techniques to capture light with oils.
Following a break from artistic practice to raise her family she is returning to her greatest passion, painting. Blue Mountains Artfest was delighted to showcase Kate’s work in the 2024 exhibition.

What is Artfest?
One of the region’s longest-running arts events, Blue Mountains Artfest is an annual fundraiser for Wentworth Falls Public School.
Showcasing local artists and makers, the weekend event is a not for profit initiative of the school’s P&C Association. All proceeds directly support students through the acquisition of educational resources and improvements to their learning environment.
Established in 1983 as the Wentworth Falls Public School Queen’s Birthday Weekend Art Exhibition, the event was the brainchild of visionary art teachers.
It has maintained a focus on local artists and cultivating creative paths for generations of Wentworth Falls primary students.
